The Sikles Trekking is a unique and innovative trek that takes you off the beaten path, exploring rarely visited valleys deep within the Annapurna range in Nepal. This trek offers a departure from traditional Gurung villages and ventures into untouched primary forests, providing a rare joy for nature enthusiasts.
The journey begins from Pokhara and heads north towards the holy mountain Machapuchare. The trek offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges as you follow ancient trails through oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forests. Along the way, you will encounter cultural villages, experience typical rural Nepali life, and witness daily activities.
The itinerary for the Sikles Trekking includes various stops and highlights. Starting from Begnas Tal, you'll pass through Baral, Chyamarang, Siklis, and Hoga, gradually gaining altitude. The views become increasingly spectacular as you ascend, with the Annapurnas and Lamjung Himal in front of you. There is a layover day at Hoga, which allows for rest or an ambitious day hike to the foot of the Annapurna IV Glacier. The trek continues through Chipli, Burijung Khola, and Bharaburi, offering panoramic views of Machhapuchhare. Finally, you backtrack to Chisopani and make your way back to Pokhara.
The Sikles Trekking is graded as a gentale trek, suitable for travelers with a moderate level of fitness. The maximum altitude reached during the trek is 3,030 meters (10,000 feet), which minimizes the risk of altitude sickness. The best seasons for this trek are March, April, May, September, October, November, and December. The trek starts and ends in Kathmandu, and the duration is typically 16 days.
