Jomsom Pokhara trekking is a wonderful opportunity to witness the beauty of the Annapurna region with a shorter trek. The 6 day trek / overland journey to Jomsom Muktinath is essentially the last third of the Annapurna circuit. The trip starts just north of the city of Pokhara and winds through the Poon Hill area and then passes the Dhalagiri icefall giving you a prime view of all the mountains. After reaching Jomsom the trek heads up to Muktinath, an important pilgrimage place for Buddhists and Hindu's which lies on the Tibetan plateau. This area gives you a look at the high and dry landscape that is the entire Tibetan plateau. The trek ends with a plane ride from Jomsom to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu. This is one of the lower elevation treks that we offer rising to only 3800 m. Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu, meet our airport representative, pick up & transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Full day Guided tour in Kathmandu valley. Visit Nepal’s most highlighted historical and cultural spots and holy pilgrimage shrines- Hindu temple Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath stupa, Swayambhunath the famous monkey temple of Nepal.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Nayapool (1070m) Via Pokhara. Trek to Birethanti (1080m). Early in the morning the trip takes about 6-8 hours for the 235km from Kathmandu and short trek for the day till Birethanti of 30-45 minutes walk. This first day of the trek we take a packed lunch for the group and stop at Mugling or Dumre for the first break.
Day 04: Birethanti to Ulleri (2080m).
The trail follows the main street of Birethanty then on through bamboo forests and past a waterfall and swimming hole. We follow the Bhurundi Khola on the north bank until we reach Baajgara next is Sudami then up through a valley. We pass several Tea Houses on the way and finally arrive at Ulleri.
Day 05: Ulleri to Ghorepani (2874m).
Today we climb a steep staircase as we climb the tops of Annapurna South 7273 metres and Himchuli begin to emerge from behind the hills. We then enter thick forests as we climb to Banthanti a settlement of tea houses in a forest clearing 2250 metres up. From Banthanti we trek for another two hours to reach Gorepani.
Day 06: Ghorepani Poon Hill to Tatopani (1190m).
We rise early in the morning for a short excursion to Poon Hill of 3193 meters. It is about one hours climb. From this vantage point you can see a spectacular panorama of Dhauagiri (8,167m), Tuckche (6,920m), Nilgiri (6,839m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m) and Glacier Dome (7,202m) after viewing this unique scene of the high Himalaya we descend to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we then begin a long descent croons a river and camp at Tatopani and we can bathe in the hot springs.
Day 07: Tatopani rest day, simply hang out at natural hot spring and enjoy local cultural activities.
Day 08: Drive Tatopani to Jomsom (2713m)
The overland journey follows the gorge of Kali Gandaki valley rises 4 miles above us to the summits of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and the vegetation becomes sparse with the dry climate. Along the overland journey you will pass many scenic villages- Kalopani, Tukuche and Marpha and finally arrive at Jomsom town for overnight stay. Late afterenoon visit natural eco museum and monastery and enjoy spectacular views of Nilgiri and Tilicho peak.
Day 09: Drive Jomsom (2713m) to Muktinath (3800m)
Drive after breakfast Jomsom to Muktinath, have lunch there and for exploring around visit one of the holiest shrines of Nepal Muktinath temple and nunnery gompa. You will also enjoy Trans Himalayan landscape sceneries like Tibet and splendid mountain views.
Day 10: Drive Muktinath (3800m) to Jomsom (2713m) and rest of days enjoy exploring around.
Day 11: By Plane: Jomsom to Pokhara.
Take the morning flight to Pokhara which leaves us time to explore Pokhara town for the remainder of the day.
Day 12: Transfer Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Day 13: Free day in Kathmandu for shopping and other activities.
Day 14: Drive to airport/departure or stay as your time permits.
